Free Emission Test Takes Place on Jalan RE Martadinata

The North Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency conducted an emission test, inspecting a total of 52 vehicles on Jalan RE Martadinata, in front of the Pademangan Police Post, Pademangan Barat Urban Village, Pademangan Sub-district.

"People are expected to be more compliant to the regulations and contribute to improving Jakarta's air quality,"

According to North Jakarta LH Sub-agency's Pollution and Environmental Damage Control Section Head, Evy Sulistiawati, the test was a sampling inspection to enforce regulations on motor vehicle emissions, as stipulated in Gubernatorial Regulation No. 66/2020 on Exhaust Gas Emission Tests for Motor Vehicles.

"The sampling test was carried out on this road to determine the level of public compliance with the emission test obligation," she stated on Wednesday (2/12).

She explained, officers randomly stopped vehicles for emission testing. Out of 56 vehicles tested, 11 passed the test.

"A total of 26 motorcycles and 26 gasoline and diesel cars were tested for free. Vehicles that failed the test were required to undergo maintenance," she mentioned.

This activity involved 50 joint personnel from Environment Agency, Environment Sub-agency, Transportation Sub-agency, and North Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit.

"Through this vehicle emission test, people are expected to be more compliant to the regulations and contribute to improving Jakarta's air quality," she added.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit Deputy Head, AKP Danu Sukmo Prakoso expressed his support for the emission test aimed at reducing air pollution caused by motor vehicle exhaust gas.

"Currently, we are issuing warnings to those who fail to meet the emission test standards. Hopefully, this activity will raise people awareness and encourage them to ensure their vehicles do not pollute the environment. Let's make Jakarta's sky blue," he closed.
